This Acton home is almost unrecognizable after a full transformation by the design-build firm Thomas Buckborough & Associates. What was once the front of the house is now the back, with the entrance reoriented to the side. This bold architectural decision opened the way for a complete reorganization of the floorplan and an entirely new way of living within the space. The result is a fresh, modern farmhouse that balances openness, function, and comfort.

Where the old driveway once cut through the property, the team carved out a backyard oasis designed for year-round enjoyment. The new outdoor spaces include a resort-style pool, hot tub, cedar sauna, patio, and full outdoor kitchen with a built-in misting system for warm summer days. Expansive windows now frame views of these outdoor amenities from nearly every room inside, connecting the interiors with the landscape in a seamless way.

Even the family’s two German shepherds were part of the design vision. Barkitecture was thoughtfully integrated throughout the home with a fresh-food storage fridge, hidden dog bowls, a dog bathing tub, and a large outdoor turf area for exercise and play.

Inside, the home unfolds with a sense of purpose and craftsmanship. The kitchen features a dramatic marble backsplash, double islands, and top-tier appliances, creating a hub for both cooking and gathering. The living room soars with cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, and a fireplace that anchors the open layout with warmth and character. Large skylights flood the spaces with natural light, while a complete smart-wiring and lighting control system adds modern convenience throughout.

The owner’s creative energy is reflected in every corner. A sculptor’s home studio serves as both a workspace and a gallery, with a fully equipped gym positioned above it. The modern primary suite feels calm and restorative, with a spa-inspired bathroom and a marble wet room that holds both a soaking tub and a massive shower.
